Albania, one of the smallest Balkan countries, which until recently was considered not an example of hospitality, is in fact a real paradise for lovers of culinary tourism. The locals are smiling and friendly and will be happy to introduce you to traditional Albanian cuisine.

You will be surprised to find that most of the dishes that are prepared and consumed in Albania are very similar to ours not only in preparation but also in name.

Here are some of typical Albanian pastries and you can make your own analogue with our native cuisine:

Albanian pastry Trileche
Albanian pastry Trileche

The national dessert Trileche, which is prepared with baked marshmallows

Necessary products: 6 eggs, 320 g sugar, 400 g flour, 320 g milk powder, 250 g caramel syrup, 1.8 l milk, 380 g sweet cream, 2 sachets vanilla sugar, 1 sachet baking powder

Method of preparation: Beat the egg whites and add the sugar and vanilla, and then the yolks one by one. Beat everything well, add the flour and vanilla and mix. Bake the mixture for about 40 minutes at 180 degrees, and the oven must be preheated. The swamp is pricked in several places with a fork so that it can breathe. Separately, heat the cream on a hot plate and pour into the pan in which the loaf was baked, and it is placed on it. Heat 500 ml of the milk and add the powdered milk with constant stirring. Add the rest of the milk and after heating enough, but without boiling, pour the milk mixture over the marsh. Allow to cool, spread with caramel syrup and the Trileche cake is ready for serving.

Put 1 or 2 sheets of puff pastry in a greased pan and place the filling on them, then cover with the next sheet of dough, carefully sealing the edges of the sheets so that the filling does not run out. Alternate a sheet of dough and stuffing, and on top should remain a sheet of dough, which is watered with the beaten yolk with a little water. Everything is baked in a preheated oven at 200 degrees.
