A family from Targovishte tore a giant pink tomato from its garden. The huge vegetable weighs over two kilograms and is produced by Veska and Ivan Yordanovi.

Veska is a nurse in the sterilization ward of the hospital in Targovishte. She and her husband own a 320-square-meter greenhouse in the Razgrad village of Brestovene. It was from there that the remarkable vegetable was plucked.

This year's Jordanov tomatoes were indeed large, but when the family weighed the pink champion, they were surprised to find that it weighed as much as 2,350 grams. With its weight, it is only about 1.5 kilograms lighter than the largest tomato in the world, which was grown by an American from Minnesota.

This year all our tomatoes are big. They are usually about 1,300 kg, but there are also larger ones. A week ago we tore off one that weighed over 1,600 kilograms, Veska Yordanova told DariknewsBg.

The nurse explains that this year the tomatoes cannot be picked in the usual way and that is why she and her husband have to use pruning shears or a knife.

The vegetable producers from Targovishte are infinitely proud of their harvest. They are adamant that all their vegetables grown in the family greenhouse are ecologically clean and assure that their tomatoes are not fertilized. They were also watered from a well.

The Jordanovs grew tomatoes for the second time in a row in this place, so it can be said that their seedlings were also ecologically harvested.

With its gigantic size, the record-breaking tomato of the family from Targovishte is close to another remarkable tomato, picked in our country. Three years ago, a man from the Gorno Ezero district of Burgas caught the eye, extracting red, juicy vegetables weighing 2.12 kilograms from his garden.

Like the Jordanovs, vegetable grower Stayko Stoykov also cut the giant with pruning shears because it turned out to have too thick a stalk. Then the farmer explained the appearance of tomatoes not only with the diligent care he puts on vegetables. To him, the giant vegetable was a gift from God.
