A Swiss farmer managed to set a world record after picking a pumpkin weighing 953.5 kilograms from his garden this year. The huge pumpkin was presented at an agricultural exhibition.
The record pumpkin was presented at an exhibition in the town of Ion, in the canton of St. Gallen.
Benny Meyer is the farmer who grew the giant pumpkin. The Swiss is a recognized specialist in growing huge pumpkins, which apply for Guinness World Records.
The same Swiss farmer presented another huge pumpkin at the German exhibition in the state of Brandenburg. The pumpkin weighed 951 kilograms, but it was overcome by Mayer's new crop.
The secret of huge pumpkins, according to the farmer, is in watering and daily care. The Swiss believes that the giant pumpkin seeds will be in great demand in time and intends to keep them and sell them at auction.
So far, the Swiss is the farmer who has managed to grow the world's largest pumpkin, surpassing the previous achievement of an American who held the record with a 911-kilogram pumpkin.
Meyer intends to compete for the title of farmer who grows the largest pumpkins in Europe. The Swiss will appear with his creation at the annual exhibition in Ludwigsburg.
So far, the European who has been named the largest pumpkin farmer is Frenchman Mehdi Tao, whose last record was set in 2009 with a pumpkin weighing 38 kilograms less than the Swiss.
