A report by the World Health Organization blacklisted all processed meats. According to him, bacon, ham and salami are carcinogenic and lead to cancer.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer at the WHO has conducted hundreds of studies proving the harm caused by the consumption of processed meats of the body and the whole organism.

The report states that processed meat means any meat that has undergone procedures to change its taste and prolong its shelf life, such as salting, smoking or adding durability. The results show that heat treatment also leads to the formation of carcinogenic chemicals. Consumption of even 50 g per day increases the risk of colon cancer by as much as 20%.

Chicken, pork and beef - these are the meats that are most often processed. The WHO puts them in the same category as asbestos and smoking, as their link to cancer development is the same. Unprocessed red meat - all steaks and legs - falls into the category of probably carcinogenic.

The WHO recommendations are extremely important. They allow global governments, and especially regulatory agencies, to realistically assess the risks posed by these products and to be able to balance the dangers and benefits of eating red and processed meat.

This will help to make more adequate recommendations for healthy eating. Although red meat has a certain nutritional value and is useful in minimal quantities, scientists have found that about 34,000 deaths a year from cancer are the result of a diet rich in processed meat.

However, meat producers are of a different opinion. According to them, the data are manipulated, subjective and quite misleading. If legal measures are introduced to limit the consumption of these products, each producer will be obliged to put a warning, like cigarettes, on the label of each processed meat.
