It has been known for years that smoked meats increase the risk of cancer, but many nutritionists have found that a similar risk lies in grilled meat, grill or barbecue. This is due to the fact that when it is cooked at a very high temperature, it is charred, which makes it carcinogenic product.

Back in 2010, in an interview with Darik Radio, Stefka Petrova, a prominent health nutrition consultant, shared: Fats, when exposed to very high temperatures, to direct fire, the so-called grilling can be a reason for formation of compounds that have the potential for carcinogenicity, for example - burnt meat, burnt bread, even burnt fat.

In 2013, the press released the results of a survey of more than 62,581 people, led by Christine Anderson, a professor at the American University of Minnesota. It explores the relationship between consumption of charred meat and the risk of developing pancreatic and colon cancer - both fast-growing diseases that are rarely successfully treated. It turns out that in people who rarely eat fried meat or grilled meat, barbecue or barbecue, the risk of developing these serious cancers is significantly lower.

Since then, many other studies have been conducted proving that meat cooked at very high temperatures is harmful to our health. This does not mean that you should completely forget about your favorite Serbian grill or our meatballs and kebabs.

Just cook them at a temperature that is high enough for the bacteria in the meat to be destroyed, but not too high so that it acquires a charred appearance. It is preferable to cook it or cook it at a moderate temperature in the oven.
