People who have decided to become vegetarians must decide for themselves whether they will be strict vegetarians. These vegetarians, who do not strictly follow only the plant-based diet, are lacto-vegetarians, who, in addition to plants, allow the use of milk and dairy products in their diet.

There are also vegetarian vegetarians - they eat both milk and eggs. They can only afford fish and seafood on weekends or holidays, and some even poultry.

Vegans are strict vegetarians who do not allow any animal products in their diet on the grounds that it is impossible to obtain them without the exploitation of animals.

The vegan menu is quite scarce. It contains only plant foods, often without heat treatment or cooked at a temperature not exceeding 18 degrees.

A balanced diet is unthinkable without animal protein. In general, high-protein products are interchangeable, so the lack of meat can be replaced in the menu with cottage cheese, milk and eggs.

This is exactly what lacto- and ovolacto-vegetarians do. It should be borne in mind, however, that the lack of well-digested iron in meat cannot be replaced by dairy and vegetable products.

Less vegetarians, who allow seafood and fish in their diet, get selenium from them, which maintains the tone of blood vessels.

Fish is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which regulate blood cholesterol, strengthen immunity and prevent serious diseases.

Although we all know about the beneficial properties of fruits and vegetables, they are not able to meet all the needs of the body, so nutritionists are not supporters of this type of diet.

This is especially true for children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as the elderly, who need the valuable amino acids found only in meat.
