Salvia is a sage grown since ancient times. Its name comes from the Latin name "salvere", in translation - to be saved. There are thousands of legends related to the herb and its benefits. Some even believe that sage is able to cure any disease.

Homeland of sage is the Mediterranean region. It contains medicinal ingredients such as various essential oils, flavonoids and phenolic acids.

It has a strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect. Scientists have identified another of its main functions - to be the main ingredient for maintaining or optimizing brain functions.

In 2003, a study was conducted to determine the real potential of the herb as a memory enhancer. It was attended by 45 adults who underwent two separate studies.

The first group received a placebo, and the second - oil extracts of sage, in an amount of 50 to 150 microl. Memory tests were performed 1 to 6 hours after ingestion. They were repeated several times to establish a certain pattern. It became clear that even those who took minimal doses of sage, immediately and significantly improved their memory.

That same year, at the September British Pharmaceutical Conference in Harrogate, the famous Professor Hugton presented his colleagues with real evidence of how red or Chinese sage appeared as an alternative to conventional pharmaceutical drugs in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

The ingredients found in it turn out to be inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase and much better than those taken in the form of synthetic drugs.

The healing properties of sage are hidden in its leaves, which brings its pleasant aroma. Apart from being fresh, as a spice and in the form of tea, it can also be taken as an extract. It protects the cells of the brain and liver from the so-called. oxidative stress.

Conditions such as gastritis, colitis, ulcers, flatulence and inflammation of the gallbladder also respond well to its intake. Externally, sage is used for burns, insect bites, skin diseases and all kinds of inflammation.
