Brunch is becoming increasingly popular on weekends in Bulgaria.
Where does the name come from?
Brunch is a mixture of breakfast and lunch, ie. breakfast-lunch. The word is foreign and its homeland is considered to be England. The term appeared as far back as 1895, and shortly afterwards became the slang of English students and described their abundant eating on weekends between 11:00 and 14:00.
Although with English roots, the brunch is very famous in the USA and Canada. He embodies the typical American Sunday family gatherings.
In fact, the idea of brunch is to start at 11:00 before noon and end around 17:00. The time from 17:00 to 19:00 is used for sleeping and family games. Immediately after that comes a new portion of food with dinner.
The original idea was to come up with a name for the meal that happens after getting up late on the weekends.
In recent years, a number of European countries / including Bulgaria / are not inferior to the Americans and the British, but on the contrary - direct their business in this direction. They spread the idea of brunch by opening specialty restaurants, and almost every reputable hotel offers breakfast and lunch to its guests on Sundays.
The table usually includes different types of rolls, muffins and pancakes, fruit salad, quiche and pie. Among the heavier offerings are scrambled eggs, fried bacon, all kinds of salads with milk sauce, sandwiches and pasta.
The variety of drinks is also great: tea, coffee, fresh juices, milkshakes and more.
Exactly 9 years ago (compared to 2016) the first brunch services in Bulgaria began to be offered - it happens in Sofia.
