According to researchers who are very serious about this issue, in the perfect gin and tonic, alcohol should be about one part, and non-alcoholic - two parts. As, of course, at the same time should be borne in mind the water from the ice.

The exact amount of tonic depends largely on how strong the gin is, explains Stuart Bale, who is a member of the research team.

When preparing a cocktail with gin and tonic, it is important not only the right combination of the two drinks, but also in what vessel we will put the drink.

And despite the fact that most bars in the UK serve gin in tall glasses, a wide glass would be a better choice, because in it one can better feel the aroma. It is in such glasses that drinks are served in Spain and the customers of the restaurants are definitely satisfied.

Eighty percent of the taste is determined by the nose. Most of the compounds of the aroma and the bouquet are in the bubbles. The larger the surface, the more bubbles rise on it, Bale reveals.

Scientists also commented on the question of whether it is a better idea to add a slice of lemon to the famous drink, or to replace it with lime. They are adamant that the choice of lemon is correct.

Undoubtedly, lime is relevant lately, but most gins are made with lemon peel. Then why put lime in them? Although sometimes it's not bad to try contrasting combinations, Bale said.

There must be a lot of ice in the drink, because at low temperatures the bubbles will last longer. That is why it is good to keep the tonic in the refrigerator, the expert advises.
