The drying of fruits and vegetables intrigued more and more people. Even at home we can make dried vegetables, which can then be used for various dishes.

Dried vegetables are very popular and are increasingly used in cooking. But why choose this method of storage instead of canning or freezing?

It is much more practical than canning and freezing vegetables. Undoubtedly, the dried products take up much less space, give a different taste to the dish and last but not least - they last longer than canned products.

If you can or freeze a kilo of carrots, they will take up a lot more space than if they are dried. After drying, all the carrots are collected in a jar, which should stand somewhere cool.

And when preparing a dish, you just take out the jar and add it to the pot. Another option is to soak them to restore their size and then add them to the dish. There are several ways to dry vegetables.

One of them is in the sun, another option is in the oven. But since, if they are made in the oven, it takes a lot of time, respectively a lot of energy, so we will consider the first option.

Here's how you can dry some vegetables:

- Pepper - Pepper dries extremely easily. Wash and split the pepper in places, then remove the seeds and leave in a ventilated and if possible warm place. Cover the vegetables with a net to prevent flies from catching them. Once dry, you can keep it in jars or paper bags;

- Tomato - Tomatoes are quite watery, so drying them is a little harder. Cut them into pieces and place them in plastic trays, spaced apart. Put a piece of cheesecloth and leave in the sun. It is good not to have high humidity and choose a suitable time for drying tomatoes. After about 3 to 7 days, the tomatoes will be ready.

- Mushrooms - You can dry the mushrooms by cutting them in two (if they are larger in 4), string them on a thread and hang them in a sunny and ventilated place. They dry quite quickly.
