Although Bulgarians have old culinary traditions for cooking lamb, this meat is not one of the most common at home. In our latitudes, people have developed a much greater affinity for chicken, pork and beef.

Lamb meat is difficult to find in stores, not counting the time around Easter, and in fact, we rarely think of it on other days of the year. This, according to many experts, is a sad fact, because this type of meat has so many benefits that it should be regularly present at our table, not just on holidays.

First of all, unlike other red meats, lamb has many times less saturated fat. This improves blood cholesterol levels while relieving internal inflammation and normalizing heart rhythm.

Regular consumption of lamb significantly reduces the risk of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease. Apart from this, the meat has a significant content of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). It is a type of fatty acid that, according to numerous studies conducted in the last five years, prevents cancer.

Another main reason to reorient in the choice of meat is that in lamb there are literally deposits of vitamin B. It, as you know, in addition to significantly enhances immunity, burns fat.

Mutton contains selenium and choline, which are also very useful in the prevention of various cancers. Lamb is also very useful for pregnant women, as it prevents anemia by increasing hemoglobin levels in the mother's blood and increasing blood flow to the baby through the placenta. Sheep, lamb and goat meat are rich in iron. This significantly reduces the risk of birth defects in babies.

Another major advantage of lamb is that it helps restore the amount of iron in the female body. This in turn significantly reduces menstrual pain, and the content of vitamin B12 makes the skin healthy and elastic and even fights stress and depression.

Lamb and mutton contain useful levels of potassium and low levels of sodium. This helps in controlling blood pressure and preventing kidney disease and stroke.

Among other things, lamb is rich in calcium, which is good for dental and bone health. Sheep meat promotes the production of new cells, thus slowing down aging.
