Forget about long and painful diets - according to a new study, fast diets are more effective than others. The study was conducted by Australian scientists who studied 200 people, and all participants in the study were obese.

The researchers divided these volunteers into two groups of 100 people. One group was tasked with losing 12.5 percent of their body weight in exactly 12 weeks. The other participants in the other group had the same task, but for much longer - they were given 36 weeks.

The results show that in the first group there is a higher success rate - 8 out of 10 have managed to complete the task. However, this is not the case in the group, where they had much more time - the results show that only half managed to lose weight as much as they were assigned.

The scientists tested their volunteers again after three years - it turns out that an equal number of the two groups regained their previous weight.

According to experts, there is a very simple explanation why fast diets are more successful than others. People are motivated by the rapid success they have achieved and continue to follow the regime they have chosen.

For example, eating at night, which many people can afford, is an extremely harmful habit. Richardson argues that we need to start to see for ourselves how wrong it is to eat late and stop reaching for the fridge in no time.
