Almond mushroom has an interesting name and is a type of edible mushroom that is found in our country. Its Latin name is Hygrophorus agathosmus, belonging to the family Hygrophoraceae.
The hood of the almond mushroom, when young, is convex with a hump, and with the development of the fungus it becomes flat, about 5-7 centimeters in diameter and has a bare edge. Smooth, ocher-gray to violet-gray in color, usually lighter to whitish with grainy mucus towards the edge.
The plates are descending, sparse, wide, white, attached to the stump.
The stump is cylindrical, dense, strong, fibrous, whitish, under the hood with grain-like scales. It can grow up to about 10 centimeters in height.
The flesh of the mushroom is white, with a pleasant taste and smell of bitter almonds, which is why it is named.

The spore powder is white and the spores are elongated elliptical, colorless.
Almond mushroom inhabits only coniferous forests and can be found in them during the months of August to November.
As mentioned above, the almond mushroom belongs to the family of edible mushrooms. It is most often used for making soups, and along with other mushrooms is great for canning in vinegar.
It is easy to collect because it usually grows in groups in large quantities. It is a pleasure to know the mushrooms and to be different when walking in the woods, and in terms of nutrition they are very high quality food.
