The mother-of-pearl sponge in Bulgaria it is also called Snow White. It has the Latin name Hygrophorus eburneus and belongs to the family Hygrophoraceae.

The hood of the mother-of-pearl fungus is hemispherical when the fungus is young and protruding as it develops. Reaches 4-7 centimeters in diameter. It usually has a rounded hump and a curved edge. In wet weather it feels slimy, and in dry weather it is shiny, smooth, bare. The coloring is like ivory, thinning towards the edge.

The plates are descending, very wide and sparse, white in color, but vary to slightly yellowish.

The stump of mother-of-pearl sponge is cylindrical, for the most part covered with mucus, and only under the hood is dry, grainy-scaly, colored white to creamy, dense. As aging progresses, it becomes almost hollow.
