This year, too, the Ministry of Ecology banned the picking of Mursal tea, whether for personal or commercial use. The decision took effect on Friday, February 24.
The ban is in force for the second year in a row, and the goal is to restore the amount of Mursal tea in nature. The herb is known for its healing properties and is also popular as Pirin or Alibotush tea.
The picking restriction has been agreed with Environment and Water Minister Irina Kostanova.
The new Law on Medicinal Plants will be applied to other plant species, whose resources in our country are depleted. The hope is that in the next few years, the ban on picking will restore their natural amount in nature.
However, Bulgarian producers and herbalists doubt that the ban will be observed.
Tea was stolen everywhere. They leave nothing behind, go at night and pick it up. They take it out with the roots and thus destroy it, explains the herbalist Lyuben Ushev to the newspaper Trud.
In his opinion, in addition to the ban, the institutions in our country should also appoint security guards to guard the tea fields.
According to experts, there is a real threat Mursal tea and other useful herbs to run out if their picking continues at the same pace as before. Among them are the medicinal area, bearberry, white oregano, Iceland lichen, white oman, lily of the valley and santonin wormwood.
This year, a restriction has been introduced for picking primroses, red peonies, marigolds, licorice and medicinal woundwort. The permissible amount is up to 11 kilograms of dry weight, as long as it is outside the territory of the Rila, Pirin and Central Balkan National Parks.
