We all know that Americans are a nation that likes to eat burgers and hot dogs quite often, and in large quantities. Hopes with different types of food, in which hundreds of people measure the strength and capacity of the stomach, are no exception.

However, a 33-year-old American from California set a record by eating as many as 72 hot dogs in a competition held on the occasion of Independence Day - July 4. The hope took place at an amusement park in New York.

The time in which Joey Chesnot ate his last 72nd hot dog is also a record. In just 10 minutes, the man managed to swallow an impressive amount of hot dogs and thus almost reached last year's record, which is 73 hot dogs again in 10 minutes. The enthusiast was awarded the so-called Mustard belt.

Joey says he's not so happy with himself because he knows he can do better, and promises to take part in the race again next year and try even harder.

The second and third place participants managed to eat 62 and 41 hot dogs, respectively.

The hotdog competition is a tradition that dates back to 1916, held at the same place and on the same festive occasion - Independence Day.
