The first cherries for this year have already appeared on the markets in Dimitrovgrad and Sofia at a price of BGN 5 per kilogram. They are also available in smaller quantities in cups, the price of which is BGN 1.

The sellers say that this year the fruits will be offered earlier than usual, because the winter was unusually warm and the cherries ripened ten days earlier.

The markets in the villages of Krepost and Velikan also offer cherries earlier than usual.

The growers say that the first cherries were of the Lambert variety.

Cherries imported from Greece can also be found in some districts of the capital and around the center of Sofia. At the moment their price is BGN 8 per half kilogram.

Although they look appetizing, the fruits do not enjoy much interest, as many consumers are worried about the quality of the first cherries in the markets.

Many of the capital's traders explain that it is still too early to offer cherries and the delicious fruits will fill our markets around May 24.

The sellers who want to be the first can order Bulgarian cherries from the Internet and place them on the markets.

The price of spring fruits is salty and reaches 20 levs per kilogram.

Unlike cherries, there are plenty of strawberries on the market. Most of them are imported from Krichim, and their prices vary between BGN 1.50 and BGN 2.50 per half kilogram.

In vegetable stores, Bulgarian strawberries reach 5 leva per kilogram.

On May 9, the National Union of Gardeners in Bulgaria will invite Russian and Norwegian importers, traders and representatives of food chains to visit Bulgaria and meet Bulgarian cherry growers.

The project will be implemented under the European program Promotion of fresh cherries in third countries (Russia and Norway).

At the meeting, traders, importers and representatives of food chains from both countries will present their requirements for future joint activities.

The National Union of Gardeners says the meeting could help build long-term business relationships.
