The first production of Bulgarian watermelons is already available in our country, but according to the producers they are not bought, as they are offered at slightly higher prices than the imported ones.

The trade network is already flooded with Greek and Macedonian watermelons, which have seriously reduced the value of summer fruits, so that Bulgarian farmers are unable to market their production, bTV reports.

On the stock exchange in Lyubimets there is already a serious tension between the sellers, as a large part of the domestic production is obsolete, and due to the warm weather the fruits spoil.

However, the Greek and Macedonian watermelons are enjoying unprecedented interest, which has caused dissatisfaction among Bulgarians.

In front of the camera of bTV, our people also state that a large part of the traders allow themselves to deceive the consumers that the watermelons they sell are Bulgarian, when in fact they are imported.

A kilogram of Greek watermelons is currently offered on the stock exchanges for 17 stotinki per kilogram, while Bulgarian watermelons do not fall below 25 stotinki per kilogram.

At the stock exchange in Karnalovo, the price of Bulgarian watermelon reached as much as 50 stotinki per kilogram. The watermelons were from Tsar Samuil's Gardens, but even there the market froze.

The producers asked the state institutions to intervene because, according to them, their Greek colleagues used unfair trade practices, thus lowering the price of watermelon.

The watermelon season ends in August - then their price can become twice as high or vice versa - twice as low depending on demand.
