Undoubtedly, chicken is one of the most popular meats in the world. It is accepted by all cultures and is integrated into every cuisine, providing an unimaginable set of delicious recipes.
In fact, many people choose chicken over other types of meat because they think it is less fatty and heavy and therefore much healthier. Unfortunately, the desire for quick profits for traders has imposed new methods and practices of poultry farming in recent decades.
This, in turn, according to more and more experts, has turned their meat into anything but useful. A recent study shows that the familiar white streaks in the meat we buy pose the greatest danger to our health.
These fibers are most common in chicken breasts. In essence, they are condensed fats. The scary thing, however, is that they are the result of diseases that many birds develop in manufacturing plants.
The difference between the meat produced in large poultry farms and small farms can easily be found in these formations in the meat. Of course, this can be done by the quality of the meat, but fewer and fewer people have already tried quality meat, as the industry has long imposed the model of large factories.
The stripes appear as a result of the way the hens are raised. They are created on a mass scale. Farmers are doing everything possible to make the birds grow faster and bigger. This means that the chicken we eat is much fatter and its meat is many times less nutritious than normal.
A study conducted in 2015 by researchers at the University of Texas found that the content of white stripes in chicken meat has increased in recent years and is now found in as many as 60% of poultry raised on poultry farms. Also, meat with such formations is more difficult to cook, absorbs less marinades, and its nutritional value drops by nearly 40%.
The most unpleasant thing, however, is that such meat contains 224 percent more fat than usual. Some experts even claim that white stripes carry the risk of heart problems, and in combination with the many chemicals used to further process meat, chicken should no longer be on the leaves of healthy foods.
