It blooms for two months with very interesting and beautiful flowers, which are a tubular star of five fused in the center petals.

The censer is a favorite of bees, which is why you can always hear their buzzing around it. The color of the lamp is very rich - it can be seen in pink, blue, purple and yellow. Propagated by seeds, which are sown in early spring.

Chandelier has been the subject of selection since the 14th century, which has led to the creation of many hybrid forms. The individual forms cross easily with each other by pollination and it is relatively difficult for the offspring to preserve the color and shapes of the flowers. Therefore, it is best to sow at least a few new varieties every year.

Growing a chandelier

The censer is a hardy plant that grows well in low temperatures and is not particularly demanding of light. If it is provided with light partial shade, it will bloom longer. The soil also does not matter for the pot, the only condition is to fertilize regularly and not to be too heavy and wet.

The censer can be used for a variety of decorative purposes. It feels equally good on the balcony and in the garden. Low types of chandeliers are especially suitable for rock gardens. Their latest purpose is for sowing in boxes and placing them on the balcony.

Flowering chandeliers can be in the room in early spring. For this purpose, they should be dug in the summer, planted in pots and dug in a shady place in the garden. Water moderately, and with the onset of frost bring them into a cool room, and in January put them by the window.

Gradually increase watering and beautiful flowers can be expected in March. After flowering, transplant them into new soil and dig them back into the garden to prepare them for another early flowering.

The easiest way to propagate the censer is by seeds. They are formed in large quantities and are shiny, black and small. One gram contains up to 100 small seeds. Mix them with sand and sow them outdoors in the garden, immediately after collecting them in the fall. When the actual leaves appear, dive at a distance of 30 cm.

The young plants bloom in the second year and reach full development in the third. You can leave them and plant themselves. The new flowers obtained are the most diverse due to cross-pollination and very rarely completely copy the qualities of the original plants.
