A three-wave laser fractometer will be able to detect without error whether the wine or milk is diluted with water. The device is the work of scientists from Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski.

The device can measure the refractive indices of substances, which is one of the most important characteristics for determining whether wine or milk is diluted, explains Dr. Ivan Bodurov from the Faculty of Physics at the university.

The machine studies the reflection of light in the beverage and determines the angle of refraction, thus accurately detecting the various impurities in the beverage.

The aging of the various essential oils can also be measured with an apparatus.

The measurement is quick and easy, and the fractometer is portable, which makes it extremely convenient to use. The PU Technology Center hopes that it will soon be patented and offered on the mass market.

But until that happens, we offer you an easy test to check at home if the milk is diluted. For this you need 90-degree alcohol.

Pour into a glass about 50 milliliters of the milk you bought and add 100 milliliters of alcohol to it. Stir until the two liquids are well mixed, and place in the dark.

Leave for about 10 seconds and check the condition of the liquid. If the milk is not diluted, you should see floating rags in the glass.

But if water is added to the milk, these rags form later - up to 2-3 minutes after moving the glass in the dark.
