Bulgarian specialists from the University of Food Technology in Plovdiv and their colleagues from the Technical University in Gabrovo have developed a revolutionary device that will show the quality of food.
With ultrasound, the device will be able to determine the quality of a food product, even if it is packaged.
Ultrasound waves will provide information about the nutritional characteristics of the products.
The device is expected to be installed in every store in the country soon.
The device can recognize images, identify and separate elements and ingredients such as plastic waste, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, pure spirits and much more.
The quality of the products will be able to be determined by the waves that the device will emit.
The team of scientists has done several experiments with yogurt.
The results showed that the majority of the tested products registered a deviation from the fat content indicated on the package by 10%.
It is envisaged that this appliance will become a mass tool for checking the quality of food in every store.
The device is not expensive and every trader will be able to afford it.
The device will be placed at the exit of the stores so that each consumer can determine the quality of the food he buys.
With the help of this device, each customer will be able to detect discrepancies between the actual constituents included in the food and those that are written on the label.
For example, we will easily understand how much salt or soy is in the minced meat we buy, and whether the information that the appliance shows us matches the information on the product packaging.
Associate Professor Nikolay Shopov from the Department of Computer Systems and Technologies stressed that the purpose of the device is to be widely used to keep people calm about what they consume.
Thanks to the device, it will be possible to evaluate meat and meat preparations, including bread and bakery products, milk and dairy products produced according to the "Stara Planina" standard.
