Mass inspections of McDonald's restaurants began in Russia on August 15. 4 of the sites of the food chain have already closed their doors, and the massive inspections in the country continue.

As a reason for the action, the state authorities point out the numerous complaints from customers of the fast food chain and the lack of adequate sanitary control in the restaurants.

Another 11 inspections are forthcoming next week. There will be unannounced inspections in the Sverdlovsk region, the Krasnodar region, as well as in the autonomous republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.

Cases of administrative violations have been filed against the closed McDonald's sites. The Federal Service for Consumer Rights - Rospotrebnadzor, explains that numerous violations of sanitary norms have been registered in the closed sites.

Among the non-functioning sites is the first McDonald's restaurant in Russia, which opened in 1990 and which gathered queues of customers in the first years of its opening.

Authorities in Russia justify their sudden inspections of fast food chain restaurants with numerous customer complaints. This was announced by the head of Rospotrebnadzor in Yekaterinburg Natalia Lukyantseva.

According to the Tatarstan chief of the service Olga Fomichova, the unscheduled inspection has been carried out since August 15.

The inspections will continue until the end of the month.

However, the management of the central headquarters of the food chain does not intend to give up the opening of new McDonald's restaurants in the largest Siberian cities - Novosibirsk and Omsk.

"By the end of the year, we plan to open at least five new restaurants in these cities," said the director of development at McDonald's.

Coincidentally or not, the massive inspections of McDonald's restaurants in Russia began after Washington announced that it would increase its sanctions against some Russian politicians.

At the same time, the food chain announced that they will expand their sales of coffee by offering their refreshing drink and Kraft Foods stores in the United States.
