Hypertension is a chronic disease characterized by a constant, and in the initial stages - a periodic increase in blood pressure. The basis of hypertension is an increase in the tension of the walls of the small arteries, as a result of which there is a decrease in their permeability, making it difficult for blood to move through them. This increases the pressure of the blood on the walls of the blood vessels.

Hypertension is a very common disease. The disease develops slowly, starting with periodic headaches, palpitations. Blood pressure becomes unstable. Then there is tingling in the fingers and toes, a rush of blood to the head, rapid fatigue.

With the further development of the disease, the patient has heart or kidney failure and cerebral circulatory disorders. Blood pressure is extremely affected by the foods we eat.

Cooking salt has a particularly pronounced effect in this regard. On the one hand, it leads to fluid retention, including in the circulatory system, and on the other - table salt makes the walls of the arteries more sensitive to normally circulating in the blood substances with vasodilating action.

The result is one - an increase in blood pressure. Unfortunately, our market is full of foods that contain too much salt. These are smoked foods, canned food, durable sausages, cheese, white bread and more.

It has been proven that as harmful to hypertension is sodium, introduced into the body with salt, so useful is magnesium. It is found in the largest amounts in cocoa, chocolate, fish and other seafood, as well as dried fruits.

Especially useful for consumption are fruits and vegetables rich in cellulose, as it makes it difficult to absorb cholesterol and carbohydrates through the intestinal wall.

Garlic occupies a special place in the diet of people with high blood pressure. Its consumption has been shown to reduce the risk of intravascular clots, and this also helps to slow down atherosclerotic changes in blood vessels.

As for cigarettes and coffee - there is no dispute about them. They cause spasm of the arteries, damage to their walls and increased heart rate.

Things are a little different with alcohol. It has been found that drinking 50 g of quality alcohol or a glass of wine not only does not harm people with high blood pressure, but on the contrary - is useful.

However, care must be taken with the dosage of alcohol, as the systemic intake of larger amounts of alcohol turns it from a drug into a poison.
