In Spain, they have an idea to limit the amount of fat and salt in meat products. The initiative is of the Association of Meat Producers and Processors (Cedecarne).
The idea is to make this project a permanent practice, and in the next few months, meetings will be held, which can be attended by producers who are not members of this association.
In 2012, the Agency for Consumer Protection and Food Safety, the Association of Manufacturers and Distributors of Food Additives and the Association of Meat Producers and Processors signed a contract.
The main thing in it is that meat products should now contain less fat - by 5 percent and less salt - by 10 percent.
Cedecarne believes that healthy foods have recently become much more popular with consumers - such products enjoy widespread public approval. Market research shows that there is a large increase in sales of sausages and meat products, in which fat and salt are less.
The Spaniards' campaign began only in Valencia and Extremadura, but the idea is expected to spread soon.
Various studies show that eating sausages can lead to health problems. According to a British study, frequent consumption of ham and other types of sausages can lead to colon cancer.
The researchers studied more than 3,500 patients who had the disease and found that eating about 70 grams of processed meat a week (or about 3 slices of bacon) increased the risk of cancer.
It turns out that Bulgarians also like to eat meat products and sausages. 52 percent of young people eat meat at least once a day, and 18 percent of people eat sausages, according to a study. It also turns out that 50 percent of Bulgarians do not play sports, and 26 percent of families eat breakfast with some pasta.
Lack of physical activity is only part of the problem - it turns out that 70% of Bulgarians drink coffee at breakfast, and 19% eat dessert at dinner, despite the advice of experts.
