When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! Whoever said this optimistic phrase first hit the mark, especially in the heat of recent weeks.

A cold glass of lemonade can fix almost anything. In the heat of summer, it's nice to have a jug in the fridge full of this refreshing, soothing, delicious and extremely easy to prepare drink.

Lemonade is not a new drink at all. It was discovered by the Egyptians, who cooled down with it 3000 years ago. For about 700 years, bottles of lemon juice sweetened with sugar have been sold in Asian markets. The drink was then known as catarrmisate.

Lemonade gained worldwide popularity in 1676, when the French company Compagnie de Limonadiers gained monopoly rights to its preparation and began selling bottles of refreshing drink first in Paris and then around the globe.

People around the world immediately fall in love with this drink. To this day, everyone loves. Besides being delicious, the drink is also useful. First of all, it is full of vitamin C and has a powerful antioxidant effect. It also hydrates the body. Lemons protect the body from oxidation and support weight loss, relieve constipation and help treat acne. They give energy to the body and stimulate the immune system.

Lemonade sold in stores, however, has everything but lemons, let alone useful qualities. That's why it's best to make homemade lemonade. It's easy!

Pick seasonal fruits of your choice. Mash them or cut them into pieces. Use strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, peaches or plums. Put them in water (carbonated or mineral) and add three sliced lemons. Add three to five tablespoons of sugar and stir.

Don't forget the fresh herbs. Mint, lavender and basil go perfectly with lemonade. Leave the drink in the fridge for a few hours and then calmly banish the summer heat with a glass of the refreshing drink.
