An average of 4.6 liters of wine was drunk by a Bulgarian last year, according to data from the National Statistical Institute. The average price of purchased wine in our country was BGN 4.03.
For the last 365 days in Bulgaria have been produced 136.5 million liters of wine, the statistics show. White wine was sold at lower prices than red wine.
The average price of a bottle of white wine of 750 milliliters was BGN 2.28, and of dry red wine in the same amount - BGN 6.29.
For the period until October 2016, 6.1 million liters of wine were imported in our country at a total value of BGN 24.6 million. Most of the imported wine is delivered from EU member states.
Analyzes also show that the most popular among our people is Spanish wine. Followed by imported wines from Italy and France. Outside the EU, New Zealand and Chile products were also popular.
Bulgarian wine, on the other hand, was a favorite of Poles, Swedes and Englishmen. In the last year we have exported large quantities of wine to Russia, China and Japan.
According to the statistics from 2915, the areas sown with vineyards in Bulgaria were nearly 60,000 hectares. There are a total of 204 enterprises producing the drink, and in recent months nearly 3,500 people have been engaged in wine production.
