The chairman of the Union of Brewers in Bulgaria, Vladimir Ivanov, announced that Bulgaria ranked 13th in terms of beer consumption by drinking 73 liters of beer a year.

Leaders in this category for another year are the Czechs, who drink 148 liters of beer for 1 year, followed by the Austrians, who consume 108 liters of sparkling liquid per year.

In third place is Germany with the consumption of 107 liters of beer per year.

Vladimir Ivanov announced that 80 brands of beer are produced in Bulgaria, including 12 types of dark beers.

The Bulgarian beer industry employs about 2,600 people and is renowned as one of the most transparent businesses in Bulgaria.

About 120,000 tons of malting barley and over 450 tons of natural hops and hop products are processed annually for the production of beer.
