Beer is one of the most consumed and loved alcoholic beverages in the world. Scientists have invented a new robot that can taste beer - it is an electronic language that is so sensitive that it can distinguish between different types of drinks. In addition, the robot language can even check the alcohol content of the beer.
The creators of the new robot are Spaniards and are convinced that this device could make an independent choice and indicate which beer is best. The robot language has twenty-one sensors, thanks to which the robot can distinguish not only between different brands of beer.
The electronic language can also distinguish the types of sparkling drink - soft, double malt, low-alcohol and others. The idea for the new device comes from the taste buds of human language.
Researchers from the Autonomous University of Barcelona conducted a study in which they analyzed several different brands of beer. The study of specialists was conducted using the robot language. The sensors on the electronic language react with the various chemical compounds in the sparkling beverage.
In fact, all of these sensors, which are located on the tongue, gather a wide range of information, explains Manel del Valle, who led the entire study. After long experiments and studies, the electronic language has learned to distinguish the types of beer categories - the sensors consist of ion selective electrodes.
Some of them react with anions and others with cations, there are also such electrodes with a non-specific reaction with the substances in the sparkling drink. The device looks like a tongue.
Experts are convinced that their device can be used to create future robots that have taste buds. Subsequently, thanks to them, the food industry will improve the quality of its products.
Scientists from the Autonomous University of Barcelona intend to improve the robot so that it can recognize other types of liquids, not just beer.
