Any food hardened by a chemical reaction involving hydrogen contains trans fats. The process is known as hydrogenation, and if you see this code name in the contents of the package, you better not buy.
In general, all products in fast food restaurants are prepared with hydrogenated fats, and the effect of this has for years shocked professionals around the world with the obesity epidemic.
Most trans fats are found in:
- all ready-made pies and snacks, especially in puff pastry. Industrially produced pasta, with very few exceptions, is a potential enemy of good health and a slim waist;
- Salts, chips, corn sticks are another unit of high-fat products. They are harmful because they are made with a lot of industrial margarine and should be avoided. It is recommended not to give to small children;
- chocolate - unfortunately even it is made with vegetable fats. Of course, not all chocolates are in the "food-taboo" category, but if you buy cheaper, be sure that trans fat is in it. Read the contents of the package carefully. If the chocolate says it only contains butter, that's fine;
- vegetable cream - the only vegetable element in it is hydrogenated fat. It is an entirely "synthetic product" and is harmful;
- popcorn for the microwave - they are like a bomb of trans fat. If you prepare them yourself in the "grandmother's" way, there is no problem;
- Cornflakes and cereals, which are a favorite of children, also contain harmful fats
- Margarine - the king of hydrogenated fats. Recently, manufacturers have been shocked and started producing margarine with natural ingredients… or so it says on the packaging.
