Eggs have so many health benefits that they should be prescribed for conditions ranging from diabetes to loss of muscle mass and memory, according to a new study. Their unique blend of proteins, vitamins and minerals is considered so powerful that they can easily be described as multivitamins by nature.
The claims come from Scottish nutritionist Dr. Carrie Rockson. According to him and his team, in addition to eggs containing high-quality protein and fatty acids, they also contain a number of key nutrients, including vitamin D, B vitamins, selenium, iodine and choline, which are not present in many other foods.
The findings completely contradict the prevailing view in the last decade that eggs are dangerous and the cholesterol they contain increases the risk of heart disease.
Research has shown that cholesterol, which is found in products such as shrimp or eggs, has no significant effect on the human body and does not carry a risk of heart disease. On the contrary, our research shows that eggs have incredible health benefits. For this reason, we can safely call them the multivitamins of nature, says Dr. Rockson.
Eggs as a healthy product receive additional rehabilitation from a similar study by the American Food Institute EpidStat. According to scientists, just one egg a day reduces the risk of stroke by 12%.
The researchers came to a conclusion after reviewing a series of studies published over 33 years, between 1982 and 2015, involving more than 275,000 participants.
Eggs have many positive nutritional qualities, including antioxidants, which have been shown to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. They are also an excellent source of protein, which is associated with lowering blood pressure, said lead researcher Dr. Dominic Alexander.
