Sometimes all you want to do after coming home tired from work in the evening is to stretch out comfortably on the couch with a glass of red wine, do nothing, or just watch some TV.
And you know what? There is nothing wrong with that, it can even be good for your health!
A new study published in the journal Diabetologia found that moderate consumption of red wine can help prevent type 2 diabetes.
The researchers studied a group of 64,000 middle-aged women over 15 years.
Those who drank a moderate amount of red wine (about half a glass a day) managed to reduce the risk of diabetes by up to 27%!
At the end of the study, the results of the study were reduced to the amount of antioxidants that the participants took.
Women who receive the most antioxidants - from red wine and other sources such as dark chocolate, fresh fruit and tea - are much less at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is an increasingly common but largely preventable disease. Getting enough antioxidants is important, but foods like red wine and chocolate should supplement, not replace, a balanced diet.
Like many chronic diseases, some of the best ways to reduce your risk of diabetes is to eat a balanced diet, manage your weight, and lead a healthy lifestyle.
