If you are a connoisseur of morning coffee, your day can start even more pleasantly after you understand the results of the latest large study on the consumption of aromatic caffeinated beverage.
Researchers from the National Cancer Center of Japan studied the relationship between daily coffee consumption and life expectancy. The study covered more than 90,000 people between the ages of 40 and 69. Participants had to answer questions related to their frequent coffee consumption.
The results showed that those who drank one or two cups of coffee a day had a reduced risk of death in the near future. That is, regular coffee drinking reduces by more than 15% the risk of premature death or disease.
However, this is by no means the first study to prove this theory. The National Cancer Institute in the United States has also achieved these positive results.
According to Dr. Neil Friedman's team, the more coffee people consume, the less likely they are to die from heart or respiratory disease, stroke, injury, accident, diabetes and even infection. Although coffee contains caffeine, which can temporarily increase heart rate and blood pressure in some people, it also has other compounds and antioxidants that have a beneficial effect on health.
Participants aged between 50 and 71 years were observed for 12 years. Dr. Friedman says the main obstacle for coffee drinkers who want to increase their life expectancy is smoking.
It was well known that coffee was accompanied by a cigarette, and smokers ate more red meat and fewer fruits and vegetables, exercised less often and drank more alcohol - in other words - subject to all bad habits that worsen their health.
However, life expectancy is not the only positive thing that energy drink lovers get by sipping their morning coffee.
Caffeine sharpens and speeds up reactions. Drinking a cup of coffee in the morning makes you more adequate, more thoughtful and able to solve simple tasks. This is because caffeine stimulates those parts of the brain that are responsible for our positive emotions.
