Inspectors of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) begin mass inspections of domestic markets, exchanges, markets, warehouses and retail chains, where fresh fruits and vegetables are offered, according to the press center of the agency.

According to the executive director of the BFSA Damyan Iliev, the inspections aim to establish the compliance of the goods with the current legislation.

Inspectors will work to prevent unfair commercial practices and prevent consumers from being misled as to the origin, quality and safety of products.

The inspections of the experts are provoked by the dozens of signals from citizens for incomplete labeling of the fruits and vegetables offered on the market, low quality, etc.

BFSA inspectors will closely monitor the availability of documents for the origin of goods. The lack of such documents is one of the most common violations of traders.

The Agency announced that the unscheduled inspections will cover the capital's markets, stock exchanges and marketplaces.

The massive action of the BFSA has already given its first results. Radishes for which the trader has not submitted documents of origin were found on one of the capital's markets.

Inspectors have issued an injunction to seize and remove the goods from sale.

In addition, they found incomplete labeling of the production, which brought the infringer an act establishing an administrative violation.

Massive inspections of places where fresh fruits and vegetables are offered are carried out by order of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva.
