An Englishman living on the outskirts of London changed his name. Smith himself decided that the name that best suited his name was Double Cheeseburger with Bacon.

The strange idea came from Smith's friends. They knew how much Smith loved the double cheeseburger at the Burger King fast food restaurant, and they often told him he should be named after him.

The name change came after the company gathered at a local pub. There, Sam and friends drank a solid amount of alcohol and decided it was high time to change their friend's name.

Sam shares that with his drunken comrades they thought for a long time what would be the funniest name with which he could change his legal name. A double cheeseburger with Bacon sounded extremely appropriate to them. Sam's friends supported him unconditionally, as they always did when he decided to do something stupid to expose himself.

Since he changed his name, the 33-year-old has signed with the initials B. D. Cheeseburger. This did not interfere with his work, but it did create some problems with hotel reservations during his business trips.

Unlike Cheeseburger's friends, his relatives didn't like his new name at all. His mother and fiancée were more than angry, while his father found the incident extremely amusing.

Although he does not regret what he did, the Englishman will have to change his name once more if he wants to get married. He didn't mind staying a Double Cheeseburger, but his fiancée didn't want to hear she was married to a man called Bacon for short.

Sam's case is not unique. Every year in England, more than 85,000 Britons change their names, most of them choosing much more exotic and unconventional names.
