The chairman of the Food Safety Agency, Plamen Mollov, said that around the Easter inspections, inspectors found painted fish with unauthorized dyes.
Studies of samples of fish sold in local stores are not yet ready, so it is not yet possible to say with certainty whether the painted fish was dangerous to health.
Mollov added that one of the frequent violations in the local shops was the sale of fruits and vegetables that contained banned pesticides.
The vegetable production stated that they came across a salad whose declared shelf life was 10 days.
"There is no such salad that lasts so long" - the Association of Vegetable Growers states categorically.
In the days around Easter, the Food Safety Agency carried out 46 inspections, after which 28 acts of violation were drawn up, and nearly 3 tons of food were stopped from sale.
"Most often, the expiration date was found, violation of storage conditions and unclear origin of the goods, lack of accurate label for the composition of the product" - said Plamen Mollov during the discussion Yes! On Bulgarian food.
The annual discussion was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Professor Dimitar Grekov and his Deputy Yavor Gechev, as well as representatives of several industry organizations and retail chains.
The purpose of the discussion is to support Bulgarian producers and to encourage consumers to buy Bulgarian goods.
The experts discussed the problems of illegal food imports, the relationship between producers and traders, as well as financial support for producers from the European Union.
"I can safely say that we manage to protect Bulgarian food, which is also produced by Bulgarian citizens. We can guarantee to the Bulgarian citizens that they can safely consume the infinitely delicious Bulgarian food "- said the Minister of Agriculture.
The discussion also promised to offer more and more food produced in Bulgaria in the retail chains.
