After the BFSA undertook to inspect the lutenitsa in which the substance oleamide was found, the Food Agency is adamant that no unauthorized ingredients were found in the batch in question.
The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency claims that oleamide is not a drug. The lutenitsa, which was accused, was produced according to the company's technological documentation, the BFSA said in an official statement.
The necessary documents for the origin of all input raw materials were presented during the inspection. It has not been established that unauthorized additives have been added to the lyutenitsa, which may be harmful if consumed.
The statement of the BFSA also states that the organization that studied the lyutenitsa - Center for Food Biology, does not have the necessary accreditation for this type of activity.
This means that their conclusion cannot be used for official control.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office is checking the company Ideal Product Ltd. based in Perushtitsa to determine whether there were any omissions in the production of the problematic batch.
Regarding the danger of oleamide, the BFSA is adamant that it is not dangerous to human health, and the University of Food Technology in Plovdiv has asked for clarification on this issue.
Definitely oleamide does not appear as a narcotic substance. According to toxicologists, the mistake that oleamide is a drug is most likely due to the fact that it is similar to another substance that is structurally dangerous, according to the Agency.
According to their inspection, the substance cannot affect the nervous system. It is common and can be found in many foods containing vegetable fat.
