Stuffed peppers are a traditional Bulgarian dish. There are many varieties - with rice and minced meat, only with rice, with egg and cheese, as well as the traditional for Christmas Eve dried peppers stuffed with beans. Rice can also be replaced with bulgur.

You can also prepare burek peppers, and after filling them with egg and cheese they are breaded. Sauce can be added to each of them, which makes them even tastier. For those with rice, the sauce is milky, and for those with cheese - tomato.

Now we will teach you how to be prepare classic stuffed peppers with sauce. The recipe is for 4 servings and together with the preparation and cooking itself will take you about 90 minutes.

Stuffed peppers with rise and ground meet

Necessary products: 8 peppers, 250 grams of minced meat, 1 onion, 1 teaspoon rice, 2 tablespoons oil, 1 tablespoon paprika, 1 teaspoon savory, ½ a bunch of parsley, salt.

For the sauce: 400 grams of yogurt, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons flour.

Method of preparation: Fry the finely chopped onion in the heated oil. When it turns red, add the minced meat and red pepper. Pour a little water / about 1 cup of coffee / so that the minced meat does not become lumps. You mix well.

When the minced meat is fried, add the washed rice and 1 teaspoon of water. Allow to boil until the rice absorbs the water. Add spices and salt to taste. Remove from the heat. Cook the peppers until cool.

They are cleaned of stalks and seeds and washed well. Fill with the mixture and arrange in a pan. Each stuffed pepper can be plugged with a slice of tomato or the hole dipped in flour.

Pour 1 teaspoon of water and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about an hour until the peppers acquire a brownish tan.

For the preparation of sauce for stuffed peppers beat the eggs with the yoghurt. In a dry pan, toast the flour until golden. Remove from the heat and slowly add some of the pepper sauce, stirring constantly, to make a smooth paste.

Gradually pour the egg-milk mixture. Beat until a homogeneous mixture, then thicken for 3-4 minutes on the stove. Stir constantly so as not to burn. We serve the classic stuffed peppers, drizzled with sauce.
