If we drink carbonated beverages three or more times a week, the risk of developing breast cancer may increase. This is the opinion of a new study conducted under the direction of Dr. Carolyn Diorio in Quebec, Canada.
Researchers have found that breast density in women increases with excessive intake of fruit juices and carbonated beverages. The danger is that the density of the mammary glands is directly correlated with breast cancer. It is a malignant tumor that begins to develop from the cells that make up the breast. And if nearby lymph nodes are affected, it can be assumed that this malignancy has spread to other parts of the body.
Dr. Diorio's statement shows that the consumption of sugar products has increased worldwide. Their study involved 1,555 women, half of whom were menopausal. The aim was to determine the extent to which the sugar diet affected breast density. Women had to say how often they drank such sweet and carbonated drinks.
The results showed that the risk of breast cancer increased by 3% if they drank sweet juices and carbonated liquids three times a week. The head of the study adds that, although small, the percentage increase in risk is serious, given that we are talking about a malignant disease.
Experts confirm that it is possible to consume more sugar to increase the density of breast tissue, stimulating the growth of cancer cells. Also, these tumors are more difficult to visualize and are often overlooked.
And an older study in Singapore shows that cold sodas are a risk factor for developing malignancies. For 14 years, the study covered 60,000 people. The results showed that excessive consumption of sweet and carbonated beverages doubled or even tripled the risk of cancer.
Scientists strongly confirm that carbonated beverages can cause cancer of the pancreas, colon and breast cancer.
