Cloned meat has long been on the table of the inhabitants of European countries. This shocking fact was revealed by the German publication Deutsche Welle. The newspaper's investigation shows that Europe has been importing sperm, eggs and even milk from cloned animals for years.

The semen is used to fertilize female animals, the offspring of which are cut up and marketed. In this way, cloned meat is present on the table in every home in the Member States of the European Union, without people realizing it.

For years, there has been controversy over the admission of cloned meat for mass consumption. The European Commission is in favor of its admission, while the European Parliament strongly opposes it.

From the data presented, it is clear that the debate is actually unnecessary, because cloned meat has long been present in our menu.

Even if you try to buy uncloned meat from the store, there is no way to make a difference, because farmers are not obliged to label such meat with special labels or to indicate this circumstance anywhere on the packaging.

Of course, there is no way to buy meat from really cloned

animals because it would be terribly expensive. But the meat of their descendants is at the cost of the ordinary, and one simply cannot tell the difference between the two.

A number of studies have been done and the results show that cloned meat does not differ in taste from ordinary and according to scientists and is completely safe for consumption.

However, other scientists, including Christoph Ten from the Testbiotech Institute, are of the opinion that we still know too little about cloned meat and should wait for the results of further research before putting it on our table.

The share of meat products from cloned animals is still too small, but this should not sound reassuring, because a number of circumstances related to the health of cloned animals are already known.

They are definitely more susceptible to diseases, are often born with deformities or lead to complications in their birth process.

From a purely technological point of view, cloning is a difficult, expensive and inefficient process, which means that real meat from cloned animals will most likely never be sold in supermarkets.

On the other hand, farmers, in an attempt to keep a copy of their best bull or to meet the growing demand for breeding semen, will most likely want to clone the animal.

Even if Brussels does not allow the consumption of cloned meat in the European Union, products produced from cloned animals in the United States or China will enter the market in one way or another.

A survey conducted among the residents of the Member States of the European Union shows that many of them actually do not mind eating cloned meat.

However, they insist that this be indicated on the labels so that they can decide for themselves whether to buy from it.
