The consumption of imitation dairy products on the Bulgarian markets has reached 40 percent, announced the Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva, citing NSI data.

Taneva added that these percentages are likely to increase if the analyzes for the entire European Union are added to them, where separate codes for imitation products have not yet been made.

Therefore, their separation from natural dairy products is impossible in the study of intra-Union trade.

In the last few years, the production of fake cheese, yellow cheese and milk has grown significantly, and this trend is registered not only in our country but throughout Europe.

Most customers are looking for cheaper goods and therefore manufacturers are concentrating on reducing the price at the expense of quality.

All this leads to the replacement of natural raw materials. I specify that this is safe according to all European requirements, the Minister stressed to the 24 Chasa newspaper.

The native ministry is considering the introduction of a new regulation to regulate the producers of Bulgarian dairy products. A law is envisaged, which will oblige the factories in our country to produce either only natural dairy products, or only imitation ones.

BFSA inspections show that the biggest problem with imitation dairy products in our trade network is that producers do not present them as such, and their labels often say a natural product.

The Commission for Protection of Competition recently fined three Bulgarian oil companies that sold palm oil labeled cow butter.

The sanctions for the violators from Miltex KK, Hraninvest and Profi Milk were BGN 127,240, BGN 189,700 and BGN 113,400, respectively, which is equal to 2% of their profit for the year.
