In just one week, traders in Sofia and Varna have raised lamb prices by between 1.9% and 3.4%.

According to the data, if the bill includes other products for the traditional Easter table, it will be the cheapest for those celebrating in Blagoevgrad, and the most expensive - for those in Kardzhali.

Unlike lamb, the price of eggs goes down only weeks before the holiday. The statistics of the native ministry show that in 9 districts of the country a decrease between 1 and 3 stotinki per piece has been registered.

The decrease is most noticeable in Burgas, Ruse, Sliven and Yambol. And while in more places in the country eggs are sold cheaper, in Sofia their price has jumped by between 1 and 3 stotinki per piece.

A kilogram of quality Easter cake for this Easter will cost between BGN 10 and 12 to Bulgarian households, the chairman of the Bulgarian bread producers Georgi Popov told Trud newspaper.

He also advises not to be misled by the beautiful packaging, but to read the label carefully. Avoid imported Easter cakes made from powdered eggs and sweeteners, the expert added.
