Traditional Easter cakes will cost between 4 and 5 levs per kilogram. The prices of Easter cakes stuffed with fruits, chocolate and nuts will be between BGN 8 and 9 per kilogram.
According to the chairman of the Regional Union of Bakers and Confectioners Toshko Nyagolov, the prices of Easter cakes will remain the same as last year.
The flour used in most of the Easter cakes is type 500, for which no price increase is expected before the big Christian holiday. Eggs and sugar prices are also expected to be stable.
According to Nyagolov, most of the domestic producers of kozunak use ready-made mixes imported from Germany, Austria and France, which guarantee the quality of the products.
However, the industry expects a decline in the purchase of Easter cakes this year. According to experts, this decrease is tendentious, as in the last ten years sales of Easter cake have fallen by 50%.
The traditional Easter cakes will be between 400 and 600 grams this year as well.
In the run-up to the Easter holidays, the initiative organization Holiday Heroes announced that they will distribute packages containing the necessary food products to celebrate the Christian holiday to 5,000 socially disadvantaged families.
The activists from the charity organization will once again make disadvantaged people happy by helping the poorest in Bulgaria.
Last Easter, Holiday Heroes managed to deliver food to nearly 1,000 families across the country.
According to them, since then they have been constantly receiving signals about needy and starving Bulgarians who need their help.
The charity said they needed the help of volunteers to pack the packages and deliver them to the homes of needy families.
The supplies for the poor this Easter include sugar, rice, kozunak and soft drinks, and three Bulgarian companies have promised to include meat in these products.
