According to Rospotrebnadzor or Russia's Federal Control Service, which protects consumer rights and human well-being, there are serious violations in the trade in American bourbon in Russia.

It turns out that bourbon is even dangerous to human health.

It is a Benton Kentucky Gentleman, which is produced by the American company Barton 1792 Distillery.

Rospotrebnadzor claims that this type of alcohol has not actually passed state registration as required by the Customs Union - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan. However, the bourbon label shall bear a sign enabling the alcohol to be marketed in the territory of the Member States.

The Federal Control Service adds that bourbon is also dangerous to human health - it contains phthalates, which could cause disorders in the body. They can also cause changes in the peripheral and central nervous systems.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, bourbon can also cause disorders in the endocrine system, cause infertility in both sexes or trigger cancer.

Bourbon is a type of American whiskey that is made from corn. It must be aged for several years in special oak barrels. Its name comes from the place where it was first produced in the 18th century - Bourbon, Kentucky.

Phthalates and other derivatives are dimethyl phthalate and diethyl phthalate - they are used to denature alcohol, to give more softness to cosmetic products, for example, or to dissolve fragrances.

Earlier, the health services in Moscow accused the world-famous American fast food chain of violations - it is alleged that the sanitary norms are not observed and there is more fat in the food than allowed.

At the end of last week, the European Union and the United States decided to impose tougher sanctions on Russia because of the crisis in eastern Ukraine.
