A Danish dairy company will donate 15 tons of cheese to poor Bulgarians, who will join the Bulgarian Food Bank and be distributed to those in need.

Arla will donate the cheese, which it cannot export to Russia due to the imposed Russian embargo on goods produced by EU member states.

As they were intended for Russian customers, the donated cheeses will have the aroma of arugula, blueberries and olives, because they are in great demand in Russia.

Tons of cheese will be distributed to Bulgarians in need of the Bulgarian Food Bank, which recently launched its Christmas charity campaign to raise food.

A few days ago, the traditional 1 kg goodness campaign was launched to raise food products for our poorer compatriots.

The campaign is carried out in partnership with the food chains Carrefour, Piccadilly and Fantastico. The donated food will form family packages for people in need.

Anyone can join the BHB campaign by buying a kilo of ripe beans, lentils, rice, pasta or a liter of oil and leaving it at the designated place in the food chains.

After its establishment, the food bank collected 260 tons of products, which were donated to 15,000 people in need. The executive director of the foundation Tsanka Milanova says that every year the number of donations increases, with the largest share of donated dairy products and desserts, writes the site AgroBg.

During the Easter campaign this year, 4.2 tons of dry and packaged food were collected, from which 200 family packages were prepared for large families in need.

Bulgaria is the third poorest country in Europe, but every year tons of edible food is dumped in our country from households, supermarkets, restaurants and the supply chain.

The Food Bank called for us to be more humane and, when we have the opportunity, to donate food to the poorer of us, because tomorrow everyone may find themselves in a difficult situation.
