After the research of the Regional Directorate of the BFSA-Blagoevgrad, it was proved that the children from the 145th school in Sofia were poisoned by food that was infected with staphylococci by the employees of the hotel in Bansko.

Three of the employees of Hotel Peony - the chef, the confectioner and the waiter, are carriers of the staphylococcal bacterium, and they touched the food with their hands, sneezed and coughed over it, which made the third-graders who came to Bansko to the green school ill.

Staphylococci were also found in three of the children in the hospital, as well as in two of the other students who were not admitted to the hospital.

The kitchen of the hotel is closed until further notice, and a prescription has been issued for basic sanitation of the site. An act of administrative violation has been drawn up for the owners.

During the laboratory tests, samples were taken from the food served and from the surfaces in the kitchen, and the final results clearly show that the food prepared on May 31 was completely fit for consumption before contact with infected hotel employees.

The news was announced by the director of the BFSA-Blagoevgrad, Dr. Mihail Bashtevelov, at an official press conference.

The suspicion that the water was contaminated with salmonella or Escherichia coli was categorically rejected.

The inspections showed that all employees at the Peony Hotel have certified health records. Staff infected with staphylococci have been suspended. Infected carriers are not sick, but virus carriers.

The local branch of the Food Agency sent the samples to a laboratory in Sofia, where they will specify the exact strain of the infected.

The 9-year-old children from Sofia were infected on June 1, and were immediately admitted to Razlog Hospital with symptoms of food poisoning.

The students spent two days in the general hospital with vomiting, disorder and fever.

All the children ate schnitzels, kebabs and eclairs, and woke up in the morning with severe abdominal pain.
