An unidentified man put poison in baby food in the largest food and baby goods chains in Germany, it became clear yesterday. To stop the batches, he wants a ransom of 10m euros by Saturday.
A number of food and baby chains have received a threatening letter from the perpetrator, as well as police and the Baden-Württemberg Consumer Protection Center. However, a publication in the German newspaper Bild lists the alleged chains, which are one of the largest exporters of goods from Germany.
Many of the chains listed by the Bild newspaper have stores throughout Europe, including Bulgaria. According to the blackmailer, the poison has already been placed in the food in the warehouses and in a specific store. In a statement received on September 16, he explained that a total of 20 types of baby food had been poisoned.
For now, the man's allegations are confirmed. During an inspection in the store he mentioned, a highly deadly poison was found in five of the seized children's jars. If he does not receive his money, he will not say exactly which trade network the poison is in and will put millions of children in mortal danger.
Law enforcement agencies warn anyone who has doubts about the quality of children's jars not to use them. When opened, the factory jars have a slightly concave cap due to the vacuum and emit sound. Handled packaging will not meet these criteria.
