There are various conjectures and statements that try to convince us that the presence of frozen foods in our menu is healthy. According to some studies, these products are useful because they freeze before they lose their useful substances.

But let's not forget that a large part of the fresh products offered in the trade network travel for a long time from the producer to the end user and therefore their quality taste remains in question.

Although the import and export of fruit is sufficiently developed and you can find your favorite fruit in food chains and without its current season, the taste is different. If you still want to freeze fruit at home, here are some tips:

All well-ripened but not overripe fruits are suitable for freezing. They can be consumed immediately after thawing or used as ingredients for compotes, jellies, jams, juice or as a filling and decoration for cakes.

You need to know in advance what the fruit will be used for later, because it depends on how they are frozen - in sugar syrup or without sugar. The fruits in sugar syrup retain their color and taste even after freezing.

To make a syrup, add 540 grams of sugar to 1 liter of water.

If you want to use tender fruits such as strawberries and raspberries to decorate cakes or pies, arrange them on a plate (or tray) to pre-freeze for 1 - 2 hours, so they will retain their shape. After this procedure they are ready for packaging.

For fruits without sugar syrup, plastic bags are most suitable, and for fruits in syrup - plastic containers.

In order not to be unpleasantly surprised, use only premium products and strictly follow the rules for freezing. It is important to distribute food in appropriate portions and pack them well to prevent them from drying out.

Choose packaging materials that are flexible, odorless and airtight. They must also be resistant to acids and fats.

Freeze the products in the freezer in the places with the lowest temperature. Frozen products must not come into contact with fresh ones.

Strictly observe the storage periods and consume the fruits as soon as you thaw them. Under no circumstances should you re-freeze them unless they are in the form of cooked meals.
