Verona authorities have decided to put an end to kebabs, gyros and all other fried specialties, fast food and ethnic foods that threaten to take over the historic city center.

City officials in Romeo and Juliet have passed a decision imposing restrictions on the number of restaurants offering ethnically atypical food.

The restriction will apply to the area of the historic center of Verona, which is also the most visited by tourists.

In recent years, the city, which is one of the most visited historical and cultural destinations in Italy, has seen a boom in fast food.
