Bulgarian tourists complain about the very high prices of coffee, water and sandwiches in neighboring Greece. However, Greek traders prefer to pay fines and inflate food and beverage prices.
Our tourists, who have chosen Greece for their summer vacation, say that this year the food and drinks in our southern neighbor are much more expensive than before.
At the beginning of June, fixed prices were imposed in Greece for all resorts in the country, but this norm is not observed by most traders in the middle of the summer season, when large groups of Serbs, Bulgarians and Romanians arrive in the seaside resorts, writes Standart.
According to the regulations, mineral water, coffee and sandwiches should have been 30% cheaper this summer, but this turned out to be another tactic to attract tourists.
The voted ordinance stated that sandwiches sold on the beach would not exceed 1.40 euros, mineral water was to be sold for 1.05 euros and frappe for 2.1 euros.
According to Bulgarian tourists, however, most Greek traders do not comply with this regulation, selling tonics for 2.5 euros, frappe for 3 euros, beer for 3.5 euros and mineral water for 1.5 euros.
Stinging tourists also say that in some resorts the frappe with ice cream costs 8.5 euros, a pie with cheese - 6 euros, a Greek salad - 8 euros, and beef with potatoes - 19 euros.
For food and beverage speculation, most traders have been fined, with fines of up to 2,000 euros, but beachfront owners have widely said they prefer to pay their fines rather than reduce commodity prices.
This year, prices are inexplicably high in almost every Greek island. Authorities are advising holidaymakers this summer to immediately alert them to an irregularity if they have to pay too high a bill in our southern neighbor.
The new program envisions small and large retail outlets in Athens, Thessaloniki, some places in Halkidiki and the islands of Mykonos, Santorini, Kos, Rhodes and Syros to be open on Sundays, which are generally a day off in Greece for tourists this summer. which are expected to exceed 19 million.
